You Need to Know Abby M. Interiors

It will be three years ago this summer that I started blogging.  You might remember I was Sofas & Sage back then.  I was writing about food and design, and I had a comment from a woman in Michigan, named Abby, and, well, we have since become the dearest of friends -- she in Michigan, me in Massachusetts -- sharing a passion for design, cooking and family.

 You need to know about Abby M. Interiors.

I have watched Abby's interior design business take off, and I love her look.  She's part glam, part vintage, part modern.  She and I cross tastes and styles here and there,  but she really has a great niche.  If you're ever in need of some e-design, she's brilliant at it, and if you're local to Grand Rapids Michigan, she needs to be your go-to designer.  Although, at the moment, I think she has a waiting list :-)

I love every detail of the spaces above and below, and she chose every one.  She must have seriously happy clients.

She is not afraid of pattern and bold statements, which I admire...

Lilly Pulitzer Tail Lights

I have long admired the design work of Scot Meacham Wood (aka "Tartanscot").  He's showing his recent work on his blog, The Adventures of Tartanscot, which features a room he did in the Peninsula Decorators Show House.

He calls this "The Bridge Tournament Room"...

It's a bit of a "prep gone wild" look and I think it's completely fun.  What grabbed my attention was the yards and yards of Lilly Pulitzer's Tail Lights for Lee Jofa in green linen, along the windows and walls.

Not only do I love that fabric in green, but I'm also showing it in my 6 Wilson shop in pink!

 I hope you all are having a great week!  The spring weather here in Massachusetts has been spectacular lately, and all the flowering trees are in bloom.  Maybe that's why I'm loving these bright colors today!

Before and After: Barstool Makeover

I had been looking for a couple of months (no lie) for barstools for my client's kitchen.  She was very specific about what she wanted.  Wood with some upholstery.  Low back. Just like what she had, only different...

So one day, while in the kitchen discussing a different project, it dawned on me! (Hello, where had my head been?)  Let's reinvent the barstools she already had, since the wood tone, height etc were already perfect.  They just needed fabric.  And they were built just right to take on some fabric.

Here are the before and afters.  Not my greatest photography, but you'll get it...

The before shots were at her house (with the barstool in the dining room., so I could lay it on the floor and not scratch it).  The afters are in our showroom after the upholsterer dropped them off.

Is my upholsterer amazing or what?

My client's island is wood, but her cabinets are off white with a hint of gray.  Here's the fabric (by Pollack) close up, next to the granite.

I couldn't be more pleased with how they came out.  Next time I'm out at the house, I'll take a picture with the barstools at the island.
